Atlanta Yoga- What can you do?
The number of Atlanta yoga studios has grown exponentially in the last decade. Lululemon, the (arguably) hottest yoga clothing distributor in the US that most people can't afford, has not one but TWO huge stores in Atlanta. There are yoga studios about as often as there are churches, Jiffy Lubes, and Starbucks. Okay, maybe not Starbucks. But you get my point. Yoga is everywhere in Atlanta. It's easy to find and easy to do. And it runs counter to a lot of southern culture. How did this happen?
Atlanta, a city that is known for southern culture and fried foods is now a go-to spot for really, really good yoga. Who would have seen this coming? Well, to answer that question, the out-of-towners who have been moving here for decades and who press for the exercise trends like yoga that have grown in popularity in the last few decades. They are a large reason we have the variety and amount of yoga available that we do. So we can thank the transplants for that. And for healthier food, cause Lawd knows we didn't come up with that on our own either. If it's healthy, it's imported. If it's native to Georgia, it's deep fried or stationary.
If you google "Atlanta yoga" or "insert-your-favorite-style-of-yoga-here yoga," the odds are excellent that you'll find exactly what you're looking for, and find it relatively close to your home. By checking sites like Yelp or looking for online reviews about the studios that you find, you can usually get good feedback on whether or not the studio is up to par. Most every studio offers a twelve to fifteen dollar drop-in class that you can try to see how you like the flow of the studio and it's instructors. So you've got plenty of flexible choices, and the ability to find a soothing practice that suits your fancy.
Remember when you go looking for yoga in Atlanta, it's easy to find and easy to try. All you need is the right motivation...and a good outfit.

Where to go for good yoga clothes?
If you've practiced yoga for longer than a month, this has happened to you: an outfit/top/yoga pants starts to fall apart after a few washes or doesn't hold it's stretch or shape. You get distracted by the now-ill-fitting clothing as you move from pose to pose...and you resolve to never buy that brand again. So what do you do? Where do you go to get good yoga clothes? Many devoted yoga practitioners turn to the current trendsetter, Lululemon. But Lulu carries a pretty hefty price tag; not everyone wants to invest the equivalent of a car payment on her yoga gear. So where else are people going?
No, seriously. Where do you go? I want to know. Share your favorite yoga brands/stores/clothes with me, and I'll pass the info along in the next article. Any and all suggestions will be welcomed and researched.
